It could be my favorite workout that Bill has put together. It is called “Torch Your Torso“. Here’s what Bill wrote describing the workout.

This months workout not only burns fat faster than your typical workout, but it also adds a little twist…literally. The key component of this workout is the multi-planar abdominal workout circuit designed to attack your core from every angle. It will truly “Torch Your Torso”. Once you burn the fat away, you’ll be left with the strong, sexy abs that most programs promise but never deliver.

The multiplanar attack is key. This is a big component that most “ab blaster programs” miss. The program is also full of non conventional movments that will have you burning calories, sweating, and dreading the next day soreness. My two favorite are the saxon side bend and overhead split squat (brutal!).

Faster Fat Loss Zone Members can download this month’s workout for free here.

Are you fed up with dangerous fad diets? I sure am and with my experience as a Registered Dietitian I know firsthand how susceptible you can be to the false claims that fad diets make. I am here to teach you how to instantly recognize the 3 keys to a dangerous fad diet.

It should be a criminal offense in regards to what some of the fad diets do to your metabolism. Yes, they help you lose weight fast, initially. But they can absolutely destroy a person’s metabolism and cause them to gain much more weight back.

I believe in a much more sensible approach to help you lose weight fast. To lose weight fat you don’t need to follow a fad diet. You can achieve rapid fat loss in a very safe and healthy manner when the correct approach is taken.

The following are my top three keys for instantly recognizing a dangerous fad diet:

One Ingredient Diets:

Any diet that preaches eating only one ingredient - such as ice cream or grapefruit - for an extended period of time can be classified immediately as a dangerous fad diet. There are dozens of these types of diets on the market. The problem with these fad diets is that they are low on overall calories and deficient of many important nutrients that assist with weight loss. When fad diets focus on 1 nutrient as the main source of weight loss all it is doing is severely restricting calories so that you see weight loss. Once you have met your weight loss goal and are no longer following the fad diet where do you go from there? The weight comes right back on because most people revert back to their old way of eating. Many times the weight gain is much worse than where you started.

Fasting:

A “lose weight fast” program that advises extended periods of fasting should be avoided at all costs. Very simply, not eating will wreak havoc on your metabolism. If you are looking to lose weight fast then not eating is potentially the worst thing you can do. Fasting causes your body to increase a hormone called lipoprotein lipase. Many call this a “starvation” hormone because when this hormone is elevated your body will adjust how it uses the calories you eat. Your body will start to store more of the calories you eat as fat calories when this hormone is elevated. It does this to protect itself and to make sure it has enough calories in reserve when it needs them. Fad diets that encourage you to fast or severely restrict calories will generally cause an increase in this “starvation” hormone.

Miraculous Claims:

Let commons sense prevail when it comes to investigating a fad diet. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t fall for the too good to be true claims of miraculous weight loss. Weight loss isn’t hard, but it does take some effort and work. I recommend enlisting the advice of a qualified nutritionist or health professional when attempting to lose weight fast.

Over the past decade the popularity of very low carbohydrate diets has increased A LOT. As a result the food industry has tried to cash in on this movement by providing people with low carb versions of foods that naturally aren’t low carb.

For the most part I think that they have failed miserably as ‘low carb’ products are generally gross or loaded with sugar alcohols and other ‘non impact’ carbs that while they may not spike insulin they do mess with your digestion. Despite all the garbage out there I have written before about two low carb products that I really like - One Carb Ketchup and Calorie Countdown Milk (especially the chocolate).

If you have eaten so seen any artificially low carb protein bars (these are the worst!) then you will have come across the ‘net carbs’ verbage. The classifications of ‘net carbs’ was originally penned by the Aktins people (which if you didn’t know are essentially now a supplement company and uses the Atkins book as a marketing tool).

‘Net carbs’ are basically all the carbs in a given food that will impact your blood sugar. Processed low carb foods are stuffed with sugar alcohols (malitol, lactitol, and xylitol) to replace the sweetness void left from removing sugar (sugar free chocolate anyone?). These sugars are not easily digested (if at all) and thus will not impact your blood sugar like normal sugar. The ‘net carb’ classification allows for these sugars (usually along with glycerine) to not be counted. So if a protein bar has 35 grams of carb but 15 of those are malitol and glycerine then the package will read “Now with only 20grams net carbs”.

Why do you care?

Avoid these foods. First, sugar alcohols are not tolerated well by most and you’ll end up with a nasty bout of diarhea (Note: many sugar free gums are sweetened with xylitol. The amount in the gum is negligible so you don’t have to worry about it). Second, foods containing sugar alcohols are processed to the MAX. The Naked Nutrition approach is all about creating a healthy eating pattern in which the byproduct is the body you desire (pretty good byproduct huh?).

As a general rule skip the products that advertise ‘net carbs’.

Recently I attended a fitness-business seminar in Connecticut with some incredible fitness minds. I had the chance to pick the brains of the best in the industry and more so, hang out and have fun!

I was able to share some meals with all kinds of people from physique trainers, physical therapists, and power-lifters, to nutritionists, and dieticians.

Your very own Mike Roussell was one of the guys I had meals with during my stay in Connecticut. Mike and I joked about who was eating what and how funny it was to see all of these people eating pretty much whatever they wanted. You see, Mike wasn’t worried about eating pasta, or a dessert or two, and neither was I. Neither Mike nor I are over weight…in fact, we are both in good shape, but still eat what we want when we want it.

As we talked, we both shared stories about clients who are caught up in worrying about what others eat and drink and not worrying about their own diet enough.

Mike and I (along with most of the trainer’s there) can afford to eat things that we want to eat because we are all in a place with our bodies, and training schedules that allow us to eat what we want without too many negative consequences. We paid our debt.

We all follow the nutrition guidelines that Mike has laid out in his Naked Nutrition Guide, but more so, we have already paid our dues. In other words, I can say that it took me some time to get where I am today. There were times in my life where I had to sacrifice watch what I ate very carefully. There were more times than I can count when I paid the price in the gym. I reached a point where my muscle development and body fat were just where I wanted them to be. I always work to maintain that point, but be certain that I paid my debt ahead of time to be where I am today.

Paying off your Debt!

Many people treat their fat loss in the same manner that they treat their finances. Let me give you an example: If you are in debt, you really do not have too many good reasons to max out your credit card. However, people do it all of the time. Spending money that they do not have, to buy things that they want is a national epidemic. The consequence is getting more and more in debt.

The same goes for fat loss. If you have a good amount of weight to lose, you really have no business eating whatever you want, when you want. You have to get to the point where your fat-debt is paid off, before you can think about doing that.

You have to know where you are before you can choose to eat whatever you want. Mike and I can eat those foods because we know where they are and because we paid our debt.

Fat loss is never easy, and it takes sacrifice. Paying off your debts is just as tough. There are things you want to buy but just cant because you need to pay your bills, feed your family and get out of that debt first. Once you do, you can start buying what you can afford.

Fat loss works the same way. Pay your Fat-Debt off now, and then you can eat the way you want and when you want once you get there. (always making sure you keep paying it down with good exercise and sound nutrition principles.)

During my weekend away at the Ryan Lee Bootcamp a couple weeks ago, I met a ton of people - none of which rivaled the energy and bravado of Rocco Castellano. Rocco is a pretty amazing that that you will either love or hate. The bottom line with Rocco is that he gets stuff done as a trainer and motivator. He was even featured on MTV’s ‘MADE’ helping a girl on the show lose 30lbs in 30 days (is he trying to show me up with Warp Speed Fat Loss??)

Here’s what Rocco said about me on his blog…

If ever their was a guy that I hate standing in the same room with it would be Mike. Not because he smells or anything like that but because he is a real scientist and is so damn intelligent when it comes to nutrition its mind boggling. I feel like my brain melts when he speaks.

Is making someone’s brain melt a compliment? Below is a quick video we shot as Rocco wanted to introduce his readers to me and Naked Nutrition.

The premise of the fat to fire workout is simple. They are quick workouts that you can do with little or no equipment from your home (or at the gym). These workouts are designed to send your metabolism through the roof and thus setting your body fat on fire.

In the first video Bill shows you how to do “Ladder Workouts” using push-ups and jump squats.

Members and check out the video here. If you aren’t a member you and join our community here. If you join before Friday then you will still get access to the One Dumbbell Fat Loss Workout (but it goes into the Platinum Vault on Saturday).
