T-5 Days, The Flu, Books, Tom Brady’s Ankle, and some more random stuff

Tom Brady’s Ankle & The Flu

So I was ransacked by the flu over the past couple days. This resulted in me being banished to the couch in my living room. I started my journey through sickness watching SportCenter but then realized after about 1 hour that despite the Super Bowl being less than a week away no one had anything interesting to talk about and thus the commentators spent all their time speculating over Tom Brady’s ankle. Now I’ma die hard Pats fan but….boring!

Books

Two books that I’ve recently read (or reread) deserve mention here on the Naked Nutrition Blog. The first is one of my all time favorites - The New Psycho-Cybernetics. I recently reread this book (4th time I think). It has HUGE applicability to people that have struggled with weight loss or are chronic yo-yo dieters. If you haven’t read it. Definitely pick up a copy.

The other book that I wanted to mention is the TNT Diet by Jeff Volek and Adam Campbell. This book is great. I’ve read a lot (probably all) of low carb diet books and this one if probably my favorite. Jeff and Adam layout an extremely practical approach to living a low carb life. They tell you exactly what to do each day (training, nutrition, etc). I’m in the process of writing up a more indepth review that will be posted on the blog. In the meantime, pick up a copy.

T-5 Days

In 5 Days, possibly sooner I’ll be sending out an email to Naked Nutrition Owners a.ka. Team Naked Nutrition with some information that will accelerate their fat loss like they never imagined.  This is really cool stuff. I’ve been working on it since May ‘07 and it is finally ready. It will give people access to me and two other top level fitness pros like never before.

So Team Naked Nutrition, look for my email on Monday (maybe on Saturday).

Foods to Eat

Here is a list of 4 foods that you should make sure to add to your diet:

  • Amaranth - complete protein, tasty, and a nice break from rice
  • Greek Yogurt 3/4 the carbs and 2x the protein of regular yogurt
  • Quinoa - like Amaranth but nuttier - mix it with salsa
  •  Kale - Green leafy veggies at its best - saute onions in a pan, added vinegar, hot sauce, and a little water and steam
  • Omega-3 Eggs - You get all the benefits of eggs (protein, essential amino acids, fat soluble vitamins) plus long chain omega-3s (yes!)
