Life in Snowy PA

Over the past couple days we have been getting walloped with snow. This is what it looked like outside my house yesterday morning. It isn’t the Vermont type snow dumpings that I’m used to but it is still significant.

I happen to love the snow so I’m not complaining. Shoveling snow is just another way to get out and exercise (I admit that sounds a little strange).

So what does this have to do with fat loss and nutrition?

 

Nothing. :)

Sad Truths

I hate to say it but the guy’s right. If you are like me you traveled over the holidays and saw friends and family that you hadn’t seen in a while (in my case 2-3 years).

Be honest. How many people did you see that were in better shape and leaner than the last time you saw them?

What did your friends and family think of you?

That’s a tough one to swallow. Did they look at you and say “Hmm..he/she has definitely put on some weight since the last time I saw him/her.”

Can we be honest for a second. Have you put on weight over the past year or so. 1-2lbs a year adds up. That means you could (I know many people that are) 20lbs heavier at 30 y.o. than they were when they were 20 y.o.

Yeah you could chalk it up to aging and a slowing metabolism but really…that’s crap. It is a poor excuse that we feed ourselves to justify our weight gain.

In reality we aren’t exercising as much and are eating much worse than previously.

Here’s another thing that people don’t want to think about. What are you missing out on because you’re unhappy about your weight? I ask a similar, and powerful, question to my clients when they first join the Naked Nutrition Online Coaching Program - “What will you not experience if you don’t achieve your goals?”

Read that question again. Pull out a piece of paper and write down the answer. DO IT.

Now take the first step and make the decision to change your habits and your body.

New Year - Lots of New Stuff

Well, I’m finally back from a whirlwind week and a half traveling and visiting family. It was nice to get away from State College but I’m also happy to be back and geared up for A LOT of new stuff in 2008.

What do I have in store? Well I can’t give you all the exact details (as that would ruin the surprise) but here’s a teaser…

  1. We’re moving (digitally not physically) again but this time you are going to be blown away. It is nothing like you have seen from me before.
  2. Max-Out Radio is undergoing an upgrade. With school, moving to a new home, renovating our kitchen, and the success of Your Naked Nutrition Guide, Max-Out Radio has suffered. But it is being upgraded, revamped, and will be back online soon.

“Mike’s a Liar”

Okay so two days ago I posted an entry about the new Your Naked Nutrition Guide site (thanks for all your positive feedback BTW). In that entry I said that I would post another entry later that day with a 7 day meal plan. That post never happened.

I’m Sorry.

Things got a little crazy on Tuesday. I was in the lab isolating lymphocytes from samples for like 6 hours -ugh. But you probably don’t care about that. So I have the meal plans for you. But let me tell you a little about them first.

This 7 day meal plan has been made up in accordance with the DASH diet. If you are not familiar with the DASH diet it is basically the “gold standard” of heart healthy diets. It is characterized by high levels of fruits, vegetables, and low fat dairy. The study that I am currently coordinating (as my PhD thesis work) uses the DASH diet as one of the test diets. People enrolled in our study are constantly complaining that they can’t eat all the food that we are giving them. The DASH diet, like Naked Nutrition, has a lot of volume without unnecessary extra calories so you stay full on less food.

So what can you do with this diet plan I am going to post? Hopefully follow it. If you have no idea where to start with your diet and want to get started right away. This is what you need. Just eat exactly what is in this meal plan and you will be following one of the best diets out there (second to Naked Nutrition of course - but that is another post).

So go here, print out the meal plans, and start changing your body.
